Two new K9 vids

It's been a long time since I posted anything on my blog here. I just finished up two new K9 video's and wanted to share them with you all. The K9 Jail didn't turn out so well, just a bad view, but the dogs were willing and we got fresh meat in the bite suite.

The Snow Dogs video is pretty fun. We got a new handler to jump in the suite. He doesn't have a K9 yet but he will be getting one soon. This was just a demonstration, of what he is in store for. I think even though you took a few spills he really liked it anyway.

Happy Anniversary

Well On the 14th of this month my wife and I had our 13th Anniversary. I
feel bad because for the first time I actually forgot. Luckily she was not
upset with me, and things worked out very well. She got me a gift, and I took
her out to dinner that night. We didn't do anything spectacular, but we did
have a good time together.  My wife has a blog as well, and she left
blogged about me. I was truly touched by what she wrote, and feel very lucky to
have such a wonderful woman in my life.

I wish I could write something as wonderful as what you have written me,
but as you know I’m not really that eloquent, and have a very difficult time
saying what I feel. I do want to post your comments on here, and I want to let
you know that I love you very much. I don't want you to ever think otherwise. You
and Kenneth truly are my life. Every day when it comes time to go home from
work, I am rushing to get home, just to see you guys. I usually walk in and
don't say anything, but I really am happy to see you.   ... Anyway I have
spent the last 30 min just writing this, and as you can see it's not much. I would like to say more, but think I would only mess it up by continuing to type.

Happy Anniversary

Well, it is now official - we have been married for
13 years! And for the first time since we have been married, Mike
actually forgot. This morning before he left I got up and gave him his
gift - I got him an iPod docking station/alarm clock. But he made it up
to me by taking me out to dinner tonight. Kenneth went with us and the
food was really good - we all had a good time.
So in honor of our 13 years together, I thought I would list 13 things that I love about Mike. (Not in any particular order)
____________________________________________________________________
1.
He is very laid back. Most people don't know him very well because he
is pretty quite and doesn't say a whole lot. But that is typical for
him - he is just real easy going.
2.
Mike is the best dad I could have ever asked for my child. He spends a
lot of time with Kenneth. They like to just hang out downstairs in the
man cave, they mow lawns together - which is teaching Kenneth a great
work ethic, and they just goof off together. Last week Mike and I were
both sick with food poisoning, and Kenneth had his last football game
of the season. I told Kenneth that since we were both so sick he would
have to miss his game. Mike felt bad about this and so he had Kenneth
get ready and drove him to his game in Firth. Mike waited in the car -
sick as can be - for about 2 hours and then drove home - what a good
dad!!!
3. Mike is patient - he puts up with me and my craziness - need I say anymore?
4.
Mike is a hard worker. He has one of those jobs that requires a lot of
flexibility and sacrifice, but he does it day after day because he
loves it. He gave up his education and working as an engineer because
he knew that he wanted to be a cop. It isn't always a glamorous or high
paying job, but I think that he gets a lot of satisfaction out of being
able to help people.
5.
He embraces his inner computer nerd. He has fully accepted that he is a
computer nerd and is often found fixing a computer around the house or
helping out any one of our numerous friends/family that need help with
technology crap.
6.
Mike is a good friend/brother. Mike would give you the shirt off his
back if you needed it. He often gets calls that someone needs help with
a variety of things and he always is willing to sacrifice his time and
energy to lend a helping hand.
7.
He protects our family. Not that we live in a high crime area or
anything, but I always feel safer when he is around. He is always
available to take care of whatever we need.
8.
He still thinks of himself as a kid. He doesn't ever really want to
grow up. He enjoys doing so many activities and "fun stuff" that
sometimes I think I have 2 kids. You can often hear me saying - "no
horseplay in the house - somebody's going to get hurt" For example, a
few weeks ago Mike and Kenneth were goofing around and Mike
accidentally slammed Kenneth's head into a corner of the wall in the
hall. Now we have a big ole dent on the corner of the wall that I don't
think can be fixed........like I said, sometimes I think I have 2 kids.
(don't worry - Kenneth's head is just fine)
9.
Mike takes care of the "manly" things around the house. He feels that
it is his responsibility to take care of things like mowing the yard
and fixing things.
10.
Mike is a fantastic artist. He really has a talent. He likes to draw
things - he still has a picture he drew in high school - it is called
vision master. I think he use to have a poster of it in his room ....
or something like that. It is really cool.
11.
Mike has a terrific sense of humor. Most people don't get to see this
part of him because he is so shy. But once you get to know him, he is
pretty hysterical. A great example (he won't like me sharing) was last
night we were saying goodnight to Kenneth and Mike was wearing a
halloween shirt that glows in the dark. It is a black shirt with a
skeleton outline on it. Well, he charged it up with light so that it
would glow really well and then we turned the lights of - he started
dancing around and Kenneth and I were laughing so hard we coulnd't
catch our breath....I know you had to be there to get the whole
effect....
12.
Mike has stuck with me through good and bad. And believe me - there
have been both. I have never doubted his love for me. Some days we
don't necessarily like each other very much, but we still love each
other no matter what.
13.
Mike is my eternal companion. Thirteen years ago today we knelt across
an alter in the Idaho Falls temple and he agreed to be sealed to me for
time and for all eternity...how lucky am I??????
I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

A friend of mine owns this car you see above. He tells me it's pushing 500 hp. Very impressive. He races it at some of the local drag strips.

9-11 Tribute

I
was told this little girls father was a Police Officer who died during
the Twin tower tragedy. Whether that is true or not, this song really
gets to me, and brings home the many lives that were changed on this
day several years ago. I do not believe we should forget the event, or
the lives that were lost. I don't care what your political views are,
or if you think 9/11 was some conspiracy. I just feel sad, and angered
that so many people died. It is unfortunate that these kinds of things
happen in the world today.

I encourage you to watch this video, especially the end. It really tugs at your heart strings.

Taser / O.C. 8-16-08

The last taser and O.C. class was on the 16th. I finally got this video done. There were not as many people in this class, so I combined the taser and OC together into one video. It's hard to hear everyone, but I think it came out pretty well. Hope you enjoy it.

O.C.Pepper Spray

All right here is the Pepper Spray portion of the class. After being
sprayed with Pepper spray they all had to fight me, in the Red man
suit. It was pretty fun.

Use of Force class

This is an uncut version of the taser and OC class we took yesterday.
This is also a lower quality video than the finished one will be. It's
over 30 min long, but I thought you might want to see it anyway.

Faithful Partner

On the heels of Chucky passing away, I found this video about military dogs retiring. I thought it was appropriate.

Idaho Falls K-9 Officer Passes Away

Posted: July 30, 2008 05:18 PM

One K-9 officer who served the
city of Idaho Falls
for three years passed away Wednesday due to sudden terminal cancer.

Chuckie was a four and a half
year old Belgian Malinois and was trained, handled and lived with Officer Pat
McKenna.

Chuckie was trained in explosives
detection and in the apprehension of barricaded and fleeing suspects.

Chuckie's animal doctor believes
he was suffering from some form of cancer.

He was cleared of service by an
emergency dispatcher who announced that Chuckie was 10-42. That's police code
for ending his tour of duty.

Hiese Hot Springs K9 Training

Well we had so much fun doing the water deploy, we decided to do it
again, and try to include those that didn't make it to the last one.
This one was on the river, and things went pretty well. See video above

K9 Training

I just spent a week in Pocatello for a K9 seminar. It was a good time. There were probably 60 or so K9 teams there. We did a lot of good training, and i made two new videos. Please check them out. I have not had time to edit them, and fix them up yet, and I have more that I want to add so I will be doing that later.

This is coming to America

This should serve as a warning to all freedom loving Americans. Before
pulling the lever this coming November, remember: both Hillary and
Obama support draconian gun laws aimed not at criminals (because
criminals don't obey the laws anyway), but at law abiding citizens.

Now here's a test on who really loves you........

Now here's a test on who
really loves you........

You come home grab the wife by the scruff of the neck, grab the dog by the
scruff of his neck and drag them into the garage...........Open the trunk of
the car and bung them both in, expect a little resistance from both of them
but, slam the trunk lid down.
Go inside and watch TV or whatever for about four hours then return to car in
the garage.....open the trunk lid.....who's glad to see you?........Open-mouthed

Shocking

http://i30.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/NTSMadDog/KOMO_080605_hitandrun-1.flv

This is truly amazing. I can't believe no one goes to help him.

Ok so it's been a while, one of my friends told me that i needed to update this because his wife mentioned it was very outdated., I didn't think anyone ever really even looked on here anymore.

Well i feel stupid enough without sharing this with the world, but take this as a cautionary tale, dogs are faster than humans. .. I was standing outside the Sheriff's office talking to some fellow officers, and we were kicking the toy for Jenny (my K9). Anyway one of the guys says, "I will give you a quarter if you can take that toy out of her mouth" well I have done this many times, you just have to be quick, and catch her off guard so (like an idiot) I decide to try. Well my first warning is that she is very intense, and keeps a hold of the toy very tight every time i get close. ... I don't pay attention. so I give it a shot, and I slap the ball out of her mouth, only she snaps her jaws shut very quickly, and very forcefully, right on my trigger finger. Of course I jerk away, only causing more damage. Well she bit down hard enough that it not only cuts my finger it actually splits it open from the pressure. I of course feel really stupid, and tell everyone that I'm fine, and the hurry home to inspect the damage.
I will be fine, but i sure hope i don't get into any gun fights anytime soon, I have a large bandage on my index finger, and it feels like I smashed it with a really big hammer.
Not only that it's very hard to type without your index finger. It's a reminder on how sharp these dogs teeth really can be.

Funny police Report

I found this on another site, and just had to share it. I thought it was pretty funny. Sorry about the all caps.

NARRATIVE:

ON 07/08/07, AT APPROXIMATELY 0326 HOURS, I WAS TRAVELING

NORTHBOUND IN THE 6100 BLOCK OF N. COLLEGE AVE. IN MY FULLY MARKED

IMPD POLICE VEHICLE AND IN FULL UNIFORM. I HAD MY WINDOWS ROLLED

DOWN. I HEARD A MALE VOICE CALLING FOR A PIG, HE WAS SAYING 'SUEY!
PIGGY! PIGGY!' I LOOKED OVER AND OBSERVED THREE WHITE MALES AND A WHITE
FEMALE WALKING SOUTHBOUND ON THE EAST SIDE OF N. COLLEGE AVE. ONE OF
THE WHITE MALES WEARING BLUE JEANS AND A LIGHT COLORED BUTTONED UP
SHIRT LOOKED DIRECTLY AT ME WITH RED GLASSY BLOODSHOT EYES AND SAID,
'SUEY PIGGY, PIGGY.' I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE MAN

HAD LOST HIS PIG AND THAT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ROAMING AROUND IN THE

BROAD RIPPLE AREA SO I DECIDED TO STOP AND ASSIST HIM, BECAUSE I KNOW
HOW DEVASTATING A LOSS OF PET CAN BE. I IDENTIFIED THE WHITE MALE
SUBJECT FROM AN INDIANA DRIVER'S LICENSE AS JAMES ADAM MCGRATH, DOB
1/22/82. WHILE I WAS SPEAKING WITH MR. MCGRATH ABOUT HIS POSSIBLE LOST
PIG, I SMELLED A STRONG ODOR COMMONLY ASSOCIATED WITH ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES ON HIS BREATH AND PERSON. HIS SPEECH WAS ALSO SLIGHTLY
SLURRED. I PLACED MR. MCGRATH UNDER ARREST FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION AND
HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE APC BY A MARION COUNTY JAIL WAGON. I SEARCHED
THE ENTIRE BROAD RIPPLE AREA AND

UNFORTUNATELY WAS NOT ABLE TO LOCATE ANY LOST PIGS. ALL OF THE ABOVE OCCURRED IN MARION COUNTY, INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.

K9 Training again.

K9 Training again. I have been extremely interested in video again. Not really sure why, but part of the reason is all the HD videos you can see over on Vimeo. I want a new camera now!!

Anyway. This latest video is of us out training. This one has some good patrol work going on. You can see the dogs getting to bite the bad guy, but you can also see the call offs. Meaning when the dog goes for a bit, the handler needs to be able to call his dog off from biting. The handler also needs to be able to instruct his dog to let go once the dog had already bitten the bad guy as well. It's pretty hard for the dogs to let go, simply because this is all fun and games for them, and getting to bite is a big reward so they don't really want to let go. It's kinda like telling a little kid to put down his candy. All these dogs did pretty well, there is still a lot of work to do, but that's why we keep training. Anyway I hope you like the video.

K9 Training

I added a new video to my collection. I don't think I will leave this one on there for very long, It is 3 different dogs doing some training. We hid a guy in the rafters, and had him hide so that the dogs couldn't see him Then the dogs had to use there nose to find the bad guy. All three dogs did very well. I loved watching the last dog. He stopped and looks up for some time before he realizes that he has found the guy.

I am also trying to up the quality of the videos, I display, this one was rendered in a high definition format, even though my camera does not record in High definition. I just wanted to see how it would come out. It looks decent, but it's too dark. I think I will have to learn how to do some color adjustment on the videos i make.

Taser Taser Taser 2008

Ok we had another taser class yesterday, and i spent the entire day trying to get this video put together. I hope you like it. I can't say it's 100% finished yet, but I like it, and it's done for now.

I can't watch Clements without laughing hard, and while we were watching this my son pointed out that Kurt seems a bit like Papa Smurf, so now I have to laugh every time i see Papa Smurf get tased

The new video is called Taser 2008, If you want to watch it, its the one that says Stud List on the video list above.

Idaho Falls pursuit and Shooting

This is just Crazy! It seems that these kinds of things are becoming more and more common. This small little community is getting bigger, and along with it comes all the problems of a larger community. I don't know a lot about this case, other than to say I do know the news didn't get it all right. Many of what they reported is what they assume happened not what really happened, but hey it's the new, and that's how they do things.

Cop with attitude takes on Skateboarder

http://i30.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/NTSMadDog/BLUtube_-_Attitudinal_Cop_v_14_yoa_.flv

Yea I know I just had to comment on this one. I mean with as much bad publicity as we get, and then this happens. What an idiot! Judging from this incident this guy should not be wearing a badge, and should not be talking to people period. Looks like the kid probably had an attitude, but nothing that warrants what the cop did. You can't simply demand respect and expect to get it. I have dealt with a lot of kids, and many times their lack of respect astonishes me, but WOW  this is just ridiculous.

Paisley

Well I had Johnny Cash's Hurt video on here, but I went into the comments to do some editing, and my pc crapped out on me. So lost that blog. Well figured it was time for a change anyway. Here is a funny vid by Brad Paisley. If you haven't seen it it's pretty good.
